Trojice moderátorů pokračuje v nákladních vozech do Thajska k řece Kwai. Nyní míří do oblasti Shan, poznamenané desítky let trvající občanskou válkou. Tam televizní štáby ani turisté nejsou zváni, a tak jsou jedni z mála, kdo sem zavítá. Není tu elektřina, žádný signál, hotely, nemocnice, na obloze nejsou letadla. Trojice se kochá uklidňující krajinou a poté přemýšlí, proč zrovna je sem pustili... Později Jamese zastaví zlomená přední náprava, Richard a Jeremy pokračují po cestě, která se značně zhoršuje. Dvojice si pak udělá pauzu v menší vesnici a James je zatím dojede s opravenou nápravou. Společně dojedou do města, kde mají přenocovat, a brzy zjistí, že místní obyvatelé jim chystají večírek... Další den po vystřízlivění a zhodnocení večírku a Shanu pokračují v cestě. James znovu řeší problémy s vozem, znovu ztrácí, ale dvojici po opravě znovu dojíždí. Společně opět stoupají do hor, až dokud nenarazí na protijedoucí náklaďák. Richard couvá a Jeremymu poničí vůz – prorazí chladič... Po dalších útrapách konečně sjíždějí z hor a na hranice zbývá 70 km a dalších 30 km k řece Kwai. Tam už musejí „jen“ postavit most, přes který dostanou své vozy...
